Live life like a child
To be a part of the rat race, you have to be a rat. But you don’t have to be like everyone else. You can make the extra effort to be different. There are six simple things you should keep in mind if you want to stand out.
- Listen to your own song. We were all born originals, yet we live in a world that seems bent on doing everything it can to make us copies of someone else.
- Set unreasonable goals. Most of us repeat old habits and reactions, and parts of our daily routine have been repeated thousands of times. They are imbedded and ingrained within us. This leaves us rigidly conditioned to think and behave in a certain way. The challenge is to increase your awareness, so that whenever you’re primed to launch into an old reaction, you can pause and deliberately change the pattern.
- Enjoy the small things. Remember how much fun it was to discover things when you were younger. Learn to push past redundant routine, habits, hobbies and hopes. Keep the spark within yourself alive.
- Say no to gradualness. Just like Martin Luther King Jr spoke out strongly against making slow changes. “Either we risk it or we don’t,” he said. “Either we change or we don’t. There is no acceptable idle ground because it lulls us into complacency.”
- Take the tough road. Only trials make you stronger. When you find a back door that’s open, close it. One of the barriers to positive change is having an easy way out of tough situations.
- Use the rocking chair image. Imagine yourself at 95, sitting on a bed, looking back at your life, how would you want others to remember you? Are you the kind who ignores or accepts what’s in front of you right now, today?
We should look up to people who’ve made it big for inspiration and then go ahead and do what we believe in. Like Steve Jobs, founder of Apple computers; he was an adopted child who went on to an expensive private college in America. There he realised that he wanted to be guided by his inner calling, and not be seduced to take the easy way out. He didn’t want to live another’s dream. He made up his mind and went on to do what he found exciting. He founded the brand Apple in his parent’s garage with his friend. Within 10 years, Apple went on from being a two-man company to a multibillion dollar personal computer company. Even after Jobs was fired from Apple by the board, he jumped back and started afresh. He was once again guided by his inner calling to do new, innovative things. He founded a company called Pixar, which created a revolution in the animation industry. He founded another technology company called Next. Apple then went on to acquire Next, and Steve Jobs was re-instated as Apple CEO. Under Jobs’s leadership, Apple scaled new heights again.

14 TIPS TO HELP YOU BUILD MORE CONFIDENCE!
1.Fail More Often. The more challenges you take on, the more failures you’ll have, but learning that you can recover, get up and push forward builds confidence.
2.Track your accomplishments. Keep a list of successes, big and small. It’ll help you to see your abilities in a more positive (and realistic) light.
3.Don’t compare. Stop measuring yourself against others. What you see isn’t always real. Making comparisons is a damaging and an inaccurate measure of success anyway.
4.Dress for confidence. How we dress affects both how we feel about ourselves and the way others perceive us. Expensive clothes aren’t necessary. Put emphasis on good fit, good condition, and appropriateness. Don’t be afraid of some color; black is professional, but color gets noticed.
5.Work on your posture. People with lower confidence often tend to have poor posture. Stand up, sit up, and keep your head up. It’s an instant confidence booster.
6.Learn. The more knowledge you acquire, the more confident you will be. Knowledge is power, and the more powerful you feel, the higher your confidence will be.
7.Fitness. Better physical condition and appearance gives you more body confidence, and as a bonus, the extra endorphins give you an added energy boost.
8.Start a conversation. When you find yourself in a social situation, instead of gravitating to those people you’re comfortable with, start a conversation with someone you don’t know very well. Eventually getting to know new people will become easier.
9.Have miniature goals. Bite sized goals are easier and quicker to achieve and the momentum can give you a boost when attacking bigger goals.
10.Raise your hand. Volunteer to take on tasks or projects that are a stretch for you. You’ll learn you can do more than you thought you could and so will others.
11.Be around confident people. Cultivate relationships with “can-do” people; attitude is contagious. On the other hand, avoid “can’t do” people. It works both ways.
12.Be your own friend. When you hear that voice in your head, abusing, attacking and belittling you, remind yourself that a friend wouldn’t talk to you in that manner.
13.Rely on your instincts. When you trust your intuition, and listen to those gut feelings, you’ll become more confident in the knowledge that you do know what’s right for you.
14.Keep practicing. Practice the skills you need to succeed. The more you practice, the more confident you become. This is true of every type of skill.

21 Effective Quotation of Swami Vivekananda
1. If the mind is intensely eager, everything can be accomplished—mountains can be crumbled into atoms.
2. Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life – think of it, dream of it, live on idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success.
3. Come out into the universe of Light. Everything in the universe is yours, stretch out your arms and embrace it with love. If you every felt you wanted to do that, you have felt God.
4. All knowledge that the world has ever received comes from the mind; the infinite library of the universe is in our own mind.
5. Stand up, be bold, be strong. Take the whole responsibility on your own shoulders, and know that you are the creator of your own destiny. All the strength and succor you want is within yourself. Therefore make your own future.
6. There is no help for you outside of yourself; you are the creator of the universe. Like the silkworm you have built a cocoon around yourself…. Burst your own cocoon and come out aw the beautiful butterfly, as the free soul. Then alone you will see Truth.
7. It is our own mental attitude which makes the world what it is for us. Our thought make things beautiful, our thoughts make things ugly. The whole world is in our own minds. Learn to see things in the proper light. First, believe in this world, that there is meaning behind everything. Everything in the world is good, is holy and beautiful. If you see something evil, think that you do not understand it in the right light. Throw the burden on yourselves!
8. Hold to the idea, “I am not the mind, I see that I am thinking, I am watching my mind act,” and each day the identification of yourself with thoughts and feelings will grow less, until at last you can entirely separate yourself from the mind and actually know it to be apart from yourself.
9. All love is expansion, all selfishness is contraction. Love is therefore the only law of life. He who loves lives, he who is selfish is dying. Therefore love for love’s sake, because it is law of life, just as you breathe to live.
10. Our duty is to encourage every one in his struggle to live up to his own highest idea, and strive at the same time to make the ideal as near as possible to the Truth.
11. Even the greatest fool can accomplish a task if it were after his or her heart. But the intelligent ones are those who can convert every work into one that suits their taste.
12. Condemn none: if you can stretch out a helping hand, do so. If you cannot, fold your hands, bless your brothers and let them go their own way.
13. Each work has to pass through these stages—ridicule, opposition, and then acceptance. Those who think ahead of their time are sure to be misunderstood.
14. If you think that you are bound, you remain bound; you make your own bondage. If you know that you are free, you are free this moment. This is knowledge, knowledge of freedom. Freedom is the goal of all nature.
15. As long as we believe ourselves to be even the least different from God, fear remains with us; but when we know ourselves to be the One, fear goes; of what can we be afraid?
16. Your Atman is the support of the universe—whose support do you stand in need of? Wait with patience and love and strength. If helpers are not ready now, they will come in time. Why should we be in a hurry? The real working force of all great work is in its almost unperceived beginnings.
17. Learning and wisdom are superfluities, the surface glitter merely, but it is the heart that is the seat of all power. It is not in the brain but in the heart that the Atman, possessed of knowledge, power, and activity, has its seat.
18. Understanding human nature is the highest knowledge, and only by knowing it can we know God? It is also a fact that the knowledge of God is the highest knowledge, and only by knowing God can we understand human nature
19. Purity, patience, and perseverance are the three essentials to success and, above all, love.
20. If you want to have life, you have to die every moment for it. Life and death are only different expressions of the same thing looked at from different standpoints; they are the falling and the rising of the same wave, and the two form one whole.
21. Each soul is potentially divine. The goal is to manifest this divinity within by controlling nature, external and internal. Do this either by work, or worship or psychic control or philosophy – by one or more or all of these and be free.

It is your mind
I meet filmmakers, poets, brilliant college students, wise teachers and visionary entrepreneurs regularly because of the work I do. Each one of these encounters has taught me something and shaped my perspective.
Recently, I had dinner with one of Asia 's top CEOs and asked him the secret of his outrageous success. He smiled: "I make the time to think." Every morning, he spends about 45 minutes with his eyes closed, deep in reflection. He is not meditating. He's not praying. He's thinking.
Sometimes he's analysing business challenges. Other times he's thinking about new markets. Still other times, he's being introspective on the meaning of his life and what he wants it to stand for.
Often, he's simply dreaming up new ways to grow personally and professionally. Every once in a while, he'll spend between six and eight hours doing this, sitting silently, absolutely still, with his eyes closed - thinking.
Making the time to think is a superb strategy for success and leadership in life. Too many people spend the best hours of their days solely engaged in ‘doing' - on the execution aspect of things. Recently a client said to me: "Sometimes I get so busy that I don't even know what I'm so busy doing."
But what if he's busy with the wrong things?? Few things are as disappointing as investing all your time, energy and potential climbing a mountain only to find - once you're on the top - that you climbed the wrong mountain.
Thinking and reflection ensures that you're on the right mountain. Peter Drucker, the management expert said: "There is nothing so useless as doing efficiently that which should not be done at all." Being thoughtful and strategic is step number one as you walk to greatness.
Clarity precedes success. By thinking more, you will have a better sense of your priorities and what you need to focus on. Your actions will be more crisp, deliberate and intentional. You will make better decisions and wiser choices. More time thinking will make you less reactive. You'll become clearer on the best uses of your time and this will, in turn, save time.
Your ‘think time' will provoke some amazing ideas and inspire big dreams. Lewis Carroll addressed this point beautifully in Alice in Wonderland when he wrote: "There's no use in trying," said Alice . "One can't believe impossible things."
"I daresay you haven't had much practice," said the queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast."
